Interesting Stuff – 2016-11-14

In light of the election I’ve got a bunch of interesting stuff this week!

How social justice ideology gave us Donald Trump. Sound familiar? Kind of like something I wrote? Yeah, I’m going to blog more about that later, in the meantime this is a long article, but very worth the effort! Grab a coffee, and a comfy chair, and prepare to be deeply edified.

Sometimes I wonder if journalists actually talk to each other before writing. Headline 1:

The white vote – women especially – propelled Trump to victory over the first woman running for president

Ok, so white women put Trump in the White House. Got it. Headline 2:

Hillary Clinton’s qualifications were no match for sexism

Ok, so sexism is what propelled Trump to victory. So women are sexist? No, just white women are sexist.

Huh?

Yeah, I’ll be blogging about this later too, including some of the interpretations of the exit polls mentioned in the article.

The pollsters really bombed it this election, but it would seem Google might be a more reliable resource to use in the future.

Is there anything Google can’t do?

Things get predictably ugly after Trump’s victory. Because that tolerant and peaceful Left, well, you know, it just…

We all know protests and riots are the ideal means by which civilized people engage in reasoned discourse on the issues of the day. That’s why people use them so often.

Roughly 100 million Americans “couldn’t be bothered” to vote. Just because they didn’t vote doesn’t necessarily mean they “couldn’t be bothered,” there may be other explanations.

Yeah, there’s another blog post coming on that too.

Ok, enough about Trump.

Here’s a worthy cause I expect any morally sane Canadian can get behind. Contact your MP and let them know they need to take this seriously.

That the Standing Committee on Health be instructed to examine the public health effects of the ease of access and viewing of online violent and degrading sexually explicit material on children, women and men, recognizing and respecting the provincial and territorial jurisdictions in this regard, and that the said Committee report its findings to the House no later than July 2017.

Gee, you think the fact that violent porn is only one click away in this tech-savvy generation might be bad for kids? I never would have guessed.

First the NDP threw themselves into the legal ring over the power purchase agreements, now they’ve been sued over a recent policy regarding beer.

Sued, and lost. At least, for now (it’s just an injunction).

Not a good batting average so far.
